Holiday Gardening

Been in a holiday for a few days, expecting my plants will be ok when i get back. I guess i will know the survivor plants when i get back. Meanwhile I am waiting in a hotel room babysitting my youngest nephew while my brother is having breakfast.

I was thinking to write some of the things I learned from going green. Talking about organics and non organics stuff that has been a really debate for some people. For those of you who does not know about it, organic vegetables mean vegetables that are planted without pesticides. At firs, I was thinking, why on earth do farmers want to use highly poisonous stuff for their plants?

It all started when my hobby in gardening just appeared in year 2013. I started by buying some plants and seeds. Of course, i prefer to buy plants, because you can see the result right away. You an see the flowers, the fruit, and the herbs, right that instant. And when buying seeds, you got to patiently wait for it to sprout. If it ever gonna sprout.

The thing with plants is, along with the soil that came in the plastic pot, there are worms and other tiny insects that lives in it. And sometimes it can affect other plants too. I am really not a fond of worms. Literally i just put them in a fire when i found one. But really hated them. But as you can see, in every choice that we make there is always a risk or side effect.

Seeing so many worms, insects, aphids, etc somehow opened my mind about the whole thing. At first I only have about 3 plants. And everyday, I would look under the leaves, watch the soil and cut out ugly leaves. That was quite a lot of thing to do for me but I love it. Taking care of each plant. And then I just keep adding my collection.

Until one day, I got overwhelmed. So many plants, so many leaves. I got this rule in my garden, no ugly leaves. So i keep cutting all the ugly leaves whenever I see one. And it turned out to be a a lot for me to handle. That was just a personal garden, and I was growing it for fun only.

Now, what if someone want to make a production of it? Having a few acres of land and thousands of plants. My method would be a wreck. And then there are natural pesticides, which usually consist of garlic, chili etc.  But I am too busy to make it. Besides you have to apply it everyday. Sometimes twice a day. Which make the use of pesticides is really efficient. You just put them in the soil and your trouble just go away.

I didi not agree on that though, I just think of the efficiency. Now don't we should think of a natural pesticides who can do with the same efficiency?
